Dental Implants

Dental Implants Offer a Superior Solution

Dental implants are a great way to replace one missing tooth or many missing teeth. It is a better solution than bridges or dentures because they can be placed without altering existing natural teeth.

What is the Dental Implant Procedure?

Implants are placed over a period of several months. The first step is the embedding of a titanium post directly into the jawbone. The posts are placed through an incision in the gum. Whether one implant is needed or several are needed, they can all be done in one appointment. After the placement, the gums are sutured.

It takes approximately 3-6 months for the gums to heal and the jaw bone to fuse with the titanium post. While waiting for this process to occur, you will have temporary crowns so that you can eat and speak as you usually do.

Once the healing and fusing is done, you will have another appointment for the dentist to attach an abutment to the implant. This will be the foundation for your new, replacement implant. At this visit, an impression of the abutment will be made so that custom-fabricated implants can be made for you. On the final office visit, the permanent restorations will be attached. You will feel confident to smile, speak, and eat as if the teeth were your original, natural teeth.
