Growing up in a farming community close to Omaha afforded him the luxury of small town living with the amenities of a larger community. He enjoyed cycling and went on RAGBRAI twice while in high school. Edward graduated in 1984 from Harlan Community High School.

After high school, he attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE, and received his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in 1988. While at Creighton he was an member of Creighton Crew. Edward returned to Creighton University to pursue his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Classical Literature and met his future wife. When not studying the classics, he spent his time working out and bartending.
